The water containing ca and mg salt (hardness) will be removed by adsorbing on there in bed inside the vessel. Its kind of fit and forget unit where you need to just put ½ inlet water connection and get the soft water (Hardness < 50 mg/lit) at the outlet. Its available in mainly two capacities as: 2 Lit & 5 Lit model:

2 Lit model = 350 Lit soft water @ 300 mg/lit hardness
5 Lit model = 900 Lit soft water @ 300 mg/lit hardness
